'Who Will Carry the Word?' Opens at Center Stage Feb.21

By:

The Red Fern Theatre Company's production of Who Will Carry the Word?, Charlotte Delbo's moving account of life in concentration camps, opens February 21, 2008 at Center Stage (48 West 21st Street, between 5th & 6th Ave.).  Proceeds from the production, which runs through March 2, will benefit Remember the Women Institute, a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit corporation that conducts and encourages research and cultural activities that contribute to including women in history.  Melanie Moyer Williams directs.

"Based upon the true story of Charlotte Delbo, a member of the French resistance who spent nearly three years in concentration camps, Who Will Carry the Word? depicts the lives of 23 women while they share a barracks in Auschwitz.  Their singular goal is to keep the strongest of them alive so that someone can share what they had experienced with the world," describe press notes.

Who Will Carry the Word? features Lindsey Andersen, Laura Anderson, Julia Arazi, Jarusha Ariel, Ilana Becker, Kirsten Benjamin, Alexandra Cremer, Storm Garner, Nicole Grillos, Anaïs Koivisto, Kasey W. Lockwood, Mariya King, Laura Luciano, Sierra Marcks, Paige McDonnell, Emilie Elizabeth Miller, Adair Moran, Dot Portella, Kendall Rileigh, Emily Riordan,  Jacquelyn Schultz, Alicia St. Louis,  and Christine Wolff.

The creative team includes Amanda Donelan (make-up artist), Jessica Greenberg (Lighting), Summer Lee Jack (costumes), Adrienne Kapalko (set), and Meredith Crandell (artist).  Kimberly J. Weston serves as the stage manager.

Melanie Moyer Williams and Emilie E. Miller founded The Red Fern Theatre Company to produce socially conscious plays while partnering with philanthropies whose missions assist those affected by the issues addressed in the play.  Previous philanthropic partners include The Hetrick-Martin Institute, Brooklyn Law School's Second Look Program, and Village Care of New York's AIDS Network. For Who Will Carry the Word?, The Red Fern Theatre Company selected the Remember the Women Institute because of its special emphasis on women in context of the Holocaust and its aftermath, including post-World War II immigration.

Who Will Carry the World? performs February 21 through March 2, 2008, Thursday through Saturday at 8PM and Sunday at 3PM at Center Stage (48 West 21st Street, between 5th & 6th Ave.).  Additional performances are Monday, February 25 at 8PM and Sunday, March 2 at 8PM.  The running time is 90 minutes.

Tickets are $18 at https://www.ovationtix.com/trs/pr/19671 or call 866-811-4111.
