Whistleblower Theater's ECHOES OF EBOLA to Play Off-Broadway This June

By:

An African killer virus, vaccination, sterilization and global depopulation is the premise of the new off-Broadway show, ECHOES OF EBOLA, at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater on 42nd Street this June.

Presented by Whistleblower Theater, this highly-topical play is the story of US and African aid workers and virologists working in a small town in the heart of Africa as a virulent virus is ravaging the population, and threatening a World pandemic.

The ECHOES OF EBOLA design team will use the very latest technology to bring virus survivors direct from Africa to the New York stage, to interact with the cast as they tell their real-life stories.

Joy Cartwright, played by Joan D. Saunders, and Kofi Bello (Lucious Conway), are veterans of the charity "business" posted in the field for an international NGO. Aidan Jones, played by Daniel Damiano, is the jaded head of a US-funded laboratory, and Aisha Laboru (Santoya Fields), is a young African virologist working with him. They all believe they are doing their part to help victims and survivors. But when American freelance journalist Ned Jacobs (Jack Gilliat) starts asking questions no one wants to answer, their motives are questioned and laid bare. Landowner and cattle rancher Zuri N'Bongo (Yaw Asante) provides the final piece of the puzzle to reveal a sinister and brutal agenda.

One half of the ECHOES OF EBOLA playwriting team is an international television journalist, who has spent 30 years working in the world's hotspots. Veteran correspondent Sarah Yuen has documented the West's disaster response efforts at first hand: "This is a work of fiction but the situations and characters are very real," said Yuen.

The play is directed by Zenon Kruszelnicki: "Whistleblower is focused on provocative, evocative theatre, taking top news stories and turning them into thought-provoking entertainment. This is a gripping, shocking, story."

ECHOES OF EBOLA will be performed from June 8th to June 18th 2016 at The Peter Jay Sharp Theater at 416 West 42nd Street. Tickets are available for $27 from www.ticketcentral.com. See Whistleblowernewyork.com for the performance schedule.
