With some of the strongest reviews of the season for a new play, the Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15 Street) has announced a 2-week extension of Julia Cho's play The Piano Teacher starring Elizabeth Franz, now set to play through December 23.

Originally booked thru December 9, The Piano Teacher extends to Dec. 23 on the strength of reviews that praise the play and Ms. Franz's remarkable performance as Mrs. K, a lonely, retired piano teacher who reaches out to her former students to find out why they abruptly stopped taking piano lessons years before.

Written by Julia Cho and directed by Kate Whoriskey, The Piano Teacher stars Elizabeth Franz, along with John Boyd and Carmen M. Herlihy.

A Tony winner for her unforgettable performance as Linda Loman in Death of a Salesman opposite Brian Dennehy, Elizabeth Franz received an Obie Award for her performance in Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All For you, as well as Tony nominations for Bright Beach Memoirs and Morning's at Seven.

Julia Cho's plays include BFE, Durangoand The Architecture of Loss. Kate Whoriskey directed the world premieres of Lynn Nottage's Intimate Apparel and Fabulation at Playwrights Horizons.

Now scheduled thru December 23, The Piano Teacher will perform Tuesdays at 7 p.m., Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 3 and 8 p.m., and Sundays at 3 p.m. Tickets are $55 and can be reserved by calling 212-353-0303.
