Tabatha Coffey Takes Over My Big Gay Italian Wedding Again
BRAVO's Tabatha Coffey of Tabatha's Salon Takeover returns to My Big Gay Italian Wedding! Tabatha will be joining the Off-Broadway comedy for one weekend only, February 24th-26th to show the Big Gay Family how to really run a wedding!
Coffey was first introduced to American audiences when she became a contestant in the Bravo reality show Shear Genius. In 2008, Coffey was approached by Bravo to star in the reality series Tabatha's Salon Takeover in which she uses her hairdressing and business expertise and edgy style to assist salons in danger of closing. The show is currently in its third season.
Tabatha's appearance also coincides with My Big Gay Italian Wedding's "The Higher the Hair, the Closer to God" Hair Salon contest! That is no coincidence, as she will be one of the Official Judges for the Semi-Finals alongside Dina Manzo of The Real Housewives of New Jersey on February 27th, the day after her final performance.
The ongoing Hair Salon Contest is open to all Salon owners and employees in the greater NY area, with 100+ already participating. Contestants must create a new, innovative, modern, high, BIG, trendy hair style/theme to be used in My Big Gay Italian Wedding. Think the 1980's meets 2011! Photo and Video Submissions are still being accepted up until the deadline on February 20th. From there, on February 27th at a TBA location, semi-finalists will be chosen to participate in a runway style, walk-off to be judged by Tabatha and Dina. And really, who better than one of the queens of reality television and the final authority on all things salon and hair related? The remaining ten finalist pairs (hairdresser and model) will then be assigned their own date in the show for a walk-on role, to be voted on by the audience. The winning hairdresser will be awarded $5000, a full-page ad for their salon in the playbill, and their new hair style featured in My Big Gay Italian Wedding for all to see!
