TIME STANDS STILL Comes to The Physics Theatre Tonight
Tonight and tomorrow, November 9th and 10th, a new production is bringing Pulitzer Prize-winning Donald Marguiles' play, "Time Stands Still," to The Physics Theatre in Times Square.
Directed by André Vauthey, a young doctor-turned-actor/director, the 90-minute play focuses on Sarah (Natassha Amalia), a war photo-journalist who is forced to get back home after a near death experience in Iraq. Sarah attempts to navigate both her recovery and her tepid relationship with long-term partner James (André Vauthey), a war reporter. Photo editor Richard (Ben Rademacher) pops by with his young, event-planner girlfriend Mandy (Joy Turner), resulting in hilarity, tension, and moral reflection.
Sarah and James' dilemma of whether to remain in a safe but lukewarm relationship following a betrayal is universally known and felt. The politics of suffering, as well as the ethic and moral of working in war zones, provide the backdrop, which was of particular interest to director Vauthey.
