THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR SHOW to Offer Autism-Friendly Performance Image

Jonathan Rockefeller's critically-acclaimed and Drama Desk nominated The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show, will offer an Autism Friendly production on November 5, 2017 at 4 pm at Union Square's DR2 Theatre (103 East 15 Street).

Although all of the performances at The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show's are Autism friendly, the producers created special performances specifically for the community. Everyone on the spectrum receives a tactile fidget plush to hold, a talk about what they can expect before the show and a quiet area is also available in the foyer during the show for any nervous attendees while the show is running. The show also offers a social story that explains exactly what guests at The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show can expect before they get to the theatre. These accommodations are offered at all of the shows.

A theatrical recreation of Eric Carle's beautifully imaginative stories, The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show, features a menagerie enchanting puppets during a magical 60-minute show that faithfully adapts four of Eric Carle's beloved books for the stage. This new edition of The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show includes the World Premiere oF Brown Bear, Brown Bear celebrating its 50th Anniversary, 10 Little Rubber Ducks, The Very Lonely Firefly and, of course, The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

"ALL our shows are inclusive and have been designed to be autism-friendly, open to all children and families with sensory issues. Our 'Autism Friendly' Shows also encourage an environment that allows caretakers to also relax and enjoy the show. If someone on the spectrum will be joining us at any other performance we are happy to make the appropriate accommodations," said creator of The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show, Jonathan Rockefeller.
