James Naughton, Tony Award winning actor, headlines the cast of The Irish Repertory Theatre's THE MASTER BUILDER which began preview performances on Friday, October 10, 2008, and opens tonight October 23rd, 2008 at the Irish Repertory Theatre. The cast also features Charlotte Parry, Letitia Lange, Kristin Griffith, Daniel Cameron Talbott, Herb Foster and Doug Stender. Ciaran O'Reilly Directs.

Tony Award winning Playwright Frank McGuinness's adaptation of Oedipus opens at The National Theatre in London, on October 23, 2008, the same date as the Irish Rep's opening of The Master Builder, here in New York. This adaptation by McGuiness was commissioned by the Irish Repertory Theatre (and will run through November 30, 2008).

THE MASTER BUILDER (1892): Halvard Solness, a successful architect and builder in a small Norwegian town has mercilessly dominated his employees and his wife, Aline. Hilde Wangel, a vivacious young woman arrives unannounced. Hilde has idolized Solness for ten years, since in the Early Stages of his career, he built a large church in her hometown and heroically climbed to the top of the tower to celebrate its dedication. The architect's presence had a profound effect on the young girl of twelve when he promised to return and, "build her a kingdom." Today, the ten years are up and Hilde has come to reap what he has sown.

Performances are Wednesday - Saturday at 8 PM. Matinees are Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday at 3 PM. Tickets are $60 and $55 and can be purchased by calling 212.727.2737.
