THE BELLE OF AMHERST takes place through the current and past experiences of Emily Dickinson'S life from 1830-1886 and is set in her home in Amherst Massachusetts. The reclusive nineteenth-century poet Emily Dickinson recollects her past through her work, her diaries and letters, and a few encounters with significant people in her life. William Luce'S classic play shows both the pain and joy of Dickinson's secluded life.

Starring: Jane Culley* in this rarely done one-woman show, performing fifteen different characters including the featured historical figure, the groundbreaking poet EMIY DICKINSON. Originally performed in 1976, directed by Charles Nelson Reilly and starring Julie Harris. THE BELLE OF AMHERST won the 1976 Tony Award for Best Actress in a play.

Jane Culley* is known for her work with various Shakespearean companies including the America Theater of Actors where she is resident Shakespearean dramaturge. Jane has performed over 25 Shakespearean leading ladies where she was compared to a younger and more beautiful Dame Judith Anderson for her portrayal of Lady Macbeth, and was also featured as the First Witch and Nurse in Raul Julia's Macbeth at The Public Theater; Jane received the Theater of Renewal and the Jean Dalrymple awards, for her role as 'Ginger' in THE HOLY JUNKIE, by John Quinn, Off- Broadway. She won the T.O.R. Award for Best Actress in 'TIL JASON COMES by Dan Lauria at the Raft Theatre, Off-Broadway. Jane was named best dramatic actress by New York Magazine for the short film "PATE?" which also won the grand prize worldwide at the Houston world fest, first prize at the Beverly Hills and Atlanta film festivals World-wide including Sundance and won first prize at the prestigious Wassermann Awards at Lincoln Center and was subsequently shortlisted by the Academy (selected as one of 25 to be considered out of the thousands submitted worldwide) for the five nomination slots for best dramatic short. Jane has received Jean Dalrymple, Gil Ancowitz, and ATA awards for her roles as Lady Macbeth in Macbeth, "Volumnia" in CORIOLANUS, and Katherine in HENRY THE VIII, among others.

STEPHEN S. MILLER, known for his direction of "The Cover of Life" by R. T. Robinson and "Love is a Bad Neighborhood" by Francine Witte. Stephen is also the stage manager of such shows as "The Bare Truth" by H.G. Brown, "The Cherry Orchard" by Anton Chekhov, William Shakespeare's "King John", "Blood Boundary" by Vicki Mooney, "The Proposal" by Anton Chekhov, "The Stronger" by August Strindberg. Stephen has also produced many shows Off-Broadway including "Siren's Den - A New Rock Musical" by Rori Nogee.
