Patrick Rains presents the critically acclaimed New York premiere of My Mother Has 4 Noses, a musical play written and performed by renowned singer/songwriter Jonatha Brooke and directed by Jeremy B. Cohen. My Mother Has 4 Noses began previews Off-Broadway on February 14th and opened on Thursday, February 20, 2014. The limited engagement will play through Sunday, May 4th at The Duke on 42nd Street, "a New 42nd Street project" (located at 229 W 42nd Street, between 7th & 8th Avenues). Check out a look at the show below!

In My Mother Has 4 Noses, Jonatha Brooke tells of her experiences caring for her mother during the final two years of her life. Quite the character, Jonatha's mother was a published poet, a clown, and a Christian Scientist. She also had dementia . . . as well as 4 noses. Jonatha began chronicling her experiences, "the daily theatre" of loving and caring for a loved one, and her writings at first became a popular blog, then grew into a collection of 11 new songs (now an acclaimed album, which was released on February 18, 2014).

After successful readings in New York, LA, Philly, and Chicago, the staged adaptation of My Mother Has 4 Noses debuted at the Warner Theatre in Torrington, CT in June 2013. A four-performance run at the Playwright's Centre in Minneapolis followed that summer, as did sold-out shows at Philadelphia Fringe Festival in September, and then the Guthrie Theater's Dowling Studio in Minneapolis in December.

Jonatha Brooke (Writer & Performer) has been writing songs, making records and touring since her early days in Boston with her band The Story. In 1995, Ms. Brooke released the first of two solo albums on MCA/Universal, Plumb, followed by Ten Cent Wings in 1997. In 1999 she started her own independent label, Bad Dog Records, and has since released six more albums. The Works, released in 2008, combined previously unheard, unpublished Woody Guthrie lyrics with her own music and arrangements. Ms. Brooke has written for four Disney films, has had songs included in many television shows, and composed and performed the theme song for Joss Whedon's series "Dollhouse." She has recently co-written songs with Katy Perry ("Choose Your Battles") and The Courtyard Hounds ("Sunshine") for their current releases. Brooke has three other musicals in development: Quadroon, with legendary jazz pianist Joe Sample; as well as Hopper and Death and Venice, both with playwright Anton Dudley.

Jeremy B. Cohen (Director) is currently the producing artistic director at Playwrights' Center in Minneapolis. Previously, Cohen was the associate artistic director and director of New Play Development at Hartford Stage from 2003 to 2010. Cohen is also the founding artistic director of Naked Eye Theatre Company in Chicago. He has numerous directing credits at regional theaters all over the country and will direct Colman Domingo's Wild With Happy at CenterStage in Baltimore, Spring 2014.

My Mother Has 4 Noses has scenic design by Caite Hevner Kemp, lighting design by ML Geiger, and sound design by Paul Mitchell. Ben Butler is the Musical Director. Anne Lowrie is the Production Stage Manager.

My Mother Has 4 Noses will play a limited engagement through Sunday, May 4th, 2014. The performance schedule is Thursday 8pm, Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 2 and 8 pm, and Sunday at 2pm. Tickets, priced at $55 and $75, are on sale now by calling The Duke on 42nd Street's Ticket Services at (646) 223-3010, or online at www.dukeon42.org/Shows/2014/4Noses.aspx.
