Robert Emmet Lunney Joins Cast of 'Perfect Crime' 9/29

Robert Emmet Lunney, last seen on Broadway in Mauritius, will assume the role of Harrison Brent in Perfect Crime, the longest-running play in New York City history, on Monday, September 29, 2008.  He will replace Patrick Ryan Sullivan, who will play his final performance on September 28.

Lunney's other Broadway credits include Deuce, The Graduate, A Doll's House, Dancing at Lughnasa, The Devil's Disciple and The Night of the Iguana.  He appeared Off Broadway in Safe Home, Grace, The Breadwinner, The Dying Gaul, Two Small Bodies and Chopin in Space.  Regional credits include productions at the Long Wharf, McCarter and Seattle Repertory Theaters.  Recent film work includes Nora Ephron's Julie & Julia, Flying Scissors and Imaginary Heroes.  Lunney has had major roles on Law & Order and was a regular on the CBS series Feds.  He is co-founder of The Barker Project, a loose affiliation of theater artists inspired by the early works of British playwright Howard Barker.

Perfect Crime tells the story of Margaret Brent, an accomplished Connecticut psychiatrist—and potential cold-blooded killer.  When her wealthy husband turns up dead, she gets caught in the middle of a terrifying game of cat and mouse with a deranged patient and the handsome but duplicitous investigator assigned to the case.  As the clock ticks to the final chilling revelation, a mounting set of secrets and indiscretions leads to a shocking turns of events.  Did Margaret Brent Commit "the perfect crime?"

Perfect Crime opened as an Equity Showcase in 1987 and since moving Off Broadway has been running for twenty one years, making it the longest-running play in the history of New York theater.  The cast includes Catherine Russell, who has starred in the show since its first performance and played all but four of its 8,700+ performances, Michael Brian Dunn (Broadway's The Life, Guys and Dolls, Big River, Sweeney Todd), Patrick Robustelli, and Richard Shoberg (24 years as Tom Cudahy on ABC's All My Children).

The performance schedule is as follows: Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays at 8PM, Wednesdays at 2PM, Saturdays at 2PM & 8PM, and Sundays at 3PM & 7:15PM.  Tickets, priced $41 - $51, are available by calling the box office at (212) 921-7862 or Ticketmaster.com at (212) 307-4100.  Specially-priced $26 student rush tickets are available on the day of the performance.
