Public Theater Premieres THE TRAGEDY OF ARTHUR, 5/16
New York's renowned Public Theater is pleased to host the world premiere of the "lost play" from the acclaimed new novel The Tragedy of Arthur by Arthur Phillips. This staged reading by The Guerrilla Shakespeare Project will take place one night only on Monday, May 16th at 7:00 PM at the Public Theater, 425 Lafayette Street (just below Astor Place), New York.
A talkback immediately follows the reading featuring Columbia University's Shakespearean scholar professor James Shapiro, Ph.D. in conversation with the novelist and playwright Arthur Phillips.
This reading is the first illegitimate Shakespeare performed by The Guerrilla Shakespeare Project. The Tragedy of Arthur features the true story of the famous King Arthur from The Bard's point of view. A story of epic war, love and the search for one man's true calling.
Does our birth decide our destiny? Can a bastard be a king or can a modern man write Shakespeare? The Tragedy of King Arthur is a play full of Shakespeare's language, poetry, insight, drama, beauty, and history; however, Shakespeare did not pen it.
But then again, Will didn't know he was The Bard either.
