Prospect Theater Company presents The Underclassman, an original musical that explores F. Scott Fitzgerald's coming of age as a writer on the eve of World War I, and his first romance with the elusive debutante Ginevra King. Performances run through November 30 (originally scheduled through November 23), at The Duke on 42nd Street, located at 229 W. 42nd Street, NYC. Press Opening is tonight, November 19 at 7:30pm.

The Underclassman features Matt Dengler (A Little Night Music) as F. Scott Fitzgerald, Jessica Grové as Ginevra King, Piper Goodeve (Anne of Green Gables) as Marie Hersey, Marrick Smith (Revolution in the Elbow) as John Peale Bishop, Billy Hepfinger as Edmund Wilson. The ensemble includes Jordan Bondurant, Elizabeth Burton, Jason Edward Cook, Ian Fairlee, Matt Gibson, Holland Grossman, Christopher Herr, Adam Machart, Drama Desk nominee Jeremy Morse (Bloodsong of Love), C.J. Pawlikowski, Davey Rosenberg, Michael Romeo Ruocco, Liz Shivener, and Whitney Winfield,

With music and lyrics by Peter Mills, and book by Mills and Cara Reichel, The Underclassman is inspired by Fitzgerald's first novel, This Side of Paradise, which catapulted him to fame and established him as the voice of his generation.

Cara Reichel directs, with choreography by Christine O'Grady, and music direction and orchestrations by Daniel Feyer.

The design team includes Ann Bartek (sets), Sidney Shannon (costumes), Brian Tovar (lights), and Kevin Heard (sound). Taylor Alyssa Marun is production stage manager.

The box office is open Tuesday through Friday from 4pm - 7pm, on Saturday from 12pm - 6pm, and two hours prior to performances on Sunday.
