WHEN THE RAIN STOPS FALLING is an epic drama, set in England and Australia, which traces a family's history spanning 80 years. The play premiered at the Australia's 2008 Adelaide Festival, was subsequently presented by the Sydney Theater Company and recently produced in London by The Almeida Theatre. The production has sets by David Korins, costumes by Clint Ramos, lighting by Tyler Micoleau, sound by Fitz Patton and original music by Josh Schmidt.
Australian writer Andrew Bovell is best known for his award winning film Lantana and for co-writing the original screenplay for Baz Luhrmann's Strictly Ballroom. His play, Speaking In Tongues, was seen at Hampstead Theatre in 2000 and toured internationally.
Director David Cromer directed the critically acclaimed off-Broadway production of Thornton Wilder's Our Town (in which he also played the Stage Manager) and this season's Broadway production of Neil Simon's Brighton Beach Memoirs. He also directed the off-Broadway productions of The Adding Machine: a musical (2008 Obie Award) and Orson's Shadow and has directed extensively in Chicago.
Lincoln Center Theater continues the celebration of its 25th year with a season of world, New York and American premieres of new work. This fall LCT presented the New York and world premieres of Nathan Louis Jackson's Broke-ology, directed by Thomas Kail, Sarah Ruhl's In The Next Room or the vibrator play, directed by Les Waters, and Anne Marie Healy's What Once We Felt, directed by Ken Rus Schmoll. Following When the Rain Stops Falling in the Newhouse will be the world premiere of A.R Gurney's The Grand Manner, to be directed by Mark Lamos, beginning Tuesday, June 1. Upcoming LCT3 productions include Graceland a new play by Ellen Fairey, directed by Henry Wishcamper (May 3 - May 29), and On The Levee a play with music, conceived and directed by Lear deBessonet, play by Marcus Gardley and music and lyrics by Todd Almond (June 14 - July 10). LCT's Tony Award winning production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's South Pacific, directed by Bartlett Sher, continues its record-breaking run in the Vivian Beaumont Theater.
The performance schedule for WHEN THE RAIN STOPS FALLING is Tuesday through Saturday evenings at 8pm, with matinees Wednesday and Saturdays at 2pm and Sundays at 3pm. (There is no Saturday matinee on Feb. 13 and no Tuesday performances on March 9 and 16. There are two performances on Sunday March 21 at 2 and 7 pm.).
