Photo Flash: First Look at Shakespeare Off-Broadway's THE TAMING OF THE SHREW
The 2015/16 season of Shakespeare Off-Broadway begins this evening with a limited engagement of The Taming of the Shrew, written by William Shakespeare and adapted by The Theatre Project's repertory ensemble TP&co. The Taming of the Shrew is the first play highlighted in the company's well-received Shakespeare Off-Broadway series, and is directed by Artistic Director Christian Amato with musical direction by Eric Fletcher and choreography by Emily Maddan. The Bard's classic comedy pits the spirited Katherine against the fortune-seeking Petruchio, who has agreed to woo and marry her as a favor to his old friend Hortensio, who is in love with Bianca, Katherine's younger, more beautiful and more popular sister. Fletcher.
Sparks fly as one of the most unlikely romantic couples in all of literature, meet and proceed on the rocky path toward marriage. Hilarity ensues when, through a series of hilarious hi-jinks, the notorious shrew is made to bend to her new husband's will and is transformed into a new woman. It's a hysterical "battle of the sexes" that only Shakespeare could create!
The Taming of the Shrew runs exclusively at The Players Theatre (115 Macdougal Street between West 3rd and Minetta Lane), with performances at 7:00PM every Friday and Saturday with 3:00PM Matinees on Saturdays and Sundays from June 26 through Jul 12, 2015. Tickets and Group Sales are now available for purchase at www.ShakespeareOffBroadway.com and www.ThtrPrjct.org.
