Photo Flash: CHURCHILL's Ronald Keaton Makes Special Appearance at The Players Club

By:

The Players Club presented a very special event on March 3rd featuring a performance and conversation with Ronald Keaton, star and author of Off-Broadway's newest hit CHURCHILL. The evening was moderated by CHURCHILL's assistant director Tricia McDermott and culminated in a spirited Q&A with the audience. Scroll down for photos!

Based on the life and writings of one of the greatest wartime leaders of the 20th Century, CHURCHILL opened at New World Stages on February 18th following an acclaimed 2014 sold-out world premiere engagement in Chicago. In this highly charged new play directed by Kurt Johns, Churchill discusses his failures and his successes; his love of art, liquor and women; and the bravery of Britain's finest hour.

Over the past four decades, Ronald Keaton has established himself as one of Chicago's most dependable and versatile character actors at the Goodman, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Drury Lane Oakbrook Terrace, First Folio Theatre, Theater at the Center, Oak Park Festival Theatre, Porchlight Music Theatre, and Mercury Theatre, among many others. His regional credits include roles at the Indiana Repertory Theatre, Houston's Alley Theatre and the Coconut Grove Playhouse in Miami.

The Players was founded in 1888 by Edwin Booth, America's preeminent Shakespearean actor, and 15 other incorporators (including Mark Twain and General William T. Sherman). Located in a Greek Revival townhouse facing historic Gramercy Park and modeled after London's famed Garrick Club, The Players was the first American club of its kind. Its purpose was to create a place for the dramatic community and kindred professionals such as musicians, writers, doctors, scientists, artists, lawyers, and patrons to mingle in a convivial setting. Today, leaders from a variety of professions in the arts, business and commerce enjoy The Players' unique spirit of sociability and discourse. Edwin Booth's bedroom remains on a top floor of the club, undisturbed since his passing in 1893.

Performances of CHURCHILL are Mondays at 7pm, Wednesday through Saturday evenings at 8pm, with matinees Thursday and Saturday at 2:30pm and Sunday at 3pm at New World Stages, 340 West 50th Street. Tickets are available at www.Telecharge.com or by calling 212-239-6200. For more information, visit www.ChurchillThePlay.com.
