Peccadillo Theatrer Co Adds Performance To ANOTHER PART OF THE FOREST 6/30

The award-winning Peccadillo Theater Company announced today that their acclaimed production of the rarely seen "prequel" to The Little Foxes, "Another Part of the Forest," written by Lillian Hellman, will play an additional performance on Wednesday, June 30th (8PM) at Theatre at St. Clement's (423 West 46th Street - btw. 9th & 10th Avenues). Another Part of the Forest will continue is scheduled run through Saturday, July 3rd.

Set in the deep South, Another Part of the Forest tells the story of the most "dysfunctional" family in all of American drama- the notorious Hubbards -- wealthy, ruthless, and immoral -- and their rise to prominence.

Directed by Peccadillo's Artistic Director Dan Wackerman, the company includes Sherman Howard, Elizabeth Norment, Matthew Floyd Miller, Stephanie Wright Thompson, Ben Curtis, Kendall Rileigh, Christopher Kelly, Ryah Nixon, Christopher Lukas, Perri Gaffney, Anthony Wills Jr., Oliver Buckingham. The production features a scenic design by Joseph Spirito, costumes designed by Amy C. Bradshaw, and a lighting design by Kate Ashton.

"Peccadillo's production of Another Part of the Forest will keep the play in its proper time and place [Bowden, Alabama ca. 1880], but steer away from the ‘kitchen sink' realism often associated with Hellman's plays," stated Mr.Wackerman. "By simplifying the elements of the physical production, a skeletal reproduction of an ante-bellum mansion, for example, and costuming that recreates the Victorian silhouette but eliminates fussy detail, we hope to emphasize the universal and timeless aspects of the play- the psychological dynamics which make this family drama as relevant today as when it was written."

Lillian Hellman directed the original Broadway production of Another Part of the Forest featuring Patricia Neal who won the very first Tony Award for her performance as the unscrupulous Regina Hubbard. Hellman herself was one of the most admired and successful playwrights of her day, gaining national recognition with her very first play, The Children's Hour. Soon after, she created a sensation with The Little Foxes which starred Tallulah Bankhead on Broadway; interestingly, while Another Part of the Forest is the "prequel" to The little Foxes, it was actually written several years after the enormous success of Foxes. Throughout her long career, Hellman was an outspoken liberal and political activist who, despite being blacklisted in the 1950s, continued to speak out against all forms of injustice and discrimination.

For over 15 years, The Peccadillo Theater Company has been producing revivals of classic American theater such as Counsellor-at-law by Elmer Rice (OBIE & Lucille Lortel Awards), Room Service by John Murray & Allen Boretz and The Ladies of the Corridor by Dorothy Parker & Arnaud d'Usseau. Peccadillo also produces original material such as last season's Zero Hour (Lucille Lortel & Outer Critics Circle nominations) currently playing at the D.R.2 Theatre on Union Square and the musical The Talk of the Town (MAC nomination) which ran for over a year in the Oak Room of the Algonquin Hotel and recently began touring nationally.
