Michael Kahn, Director & Master Teacher - Matador Award for Extraordinary Achievement in Classical Theater

Michael Kahn's work in theatre and opera has been seen on Broadway, off-Broadway, in American regional theatres, and at international venues. He has been the Artistic Director of Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, DC for nearly three decades. During this time he has directed award-winning classical theatre productions, instituted free Shakespeare performances, and led the Theatre to receive the 2012 Regional Theatre Tony Award. From 1992-2005, Mr. Kahn was the Richard Rodgers Chair of the Drama Division at Juilliard, where he has taught since its founding in 1968. He also served as the Artistic Director of The Acting Company, McCarter Theatre Center, and the American Shakespeare Theatre. He earned a Tony nomination for his direction of Showboat. Liev Schreiber, Actor - Matador Award for Extraordinary Talent in Classical Theater

Liev Schrieber is a celebrated American actor with extensive stage and screen work. His films include the Scream trilogy, The Sum of All Fears, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Salt, and recent Oscar Best Picture winner Spotlight. He plays the eponymous lead character on the Showtime series "Ray Donovan" and is a Tony Award winner for his performance in Glengarry Glen Ross on Broadway. Schreiber's classical stage work began in 1998 with Iachimo in Cymbeline for Shakespeare in the Park. The New York Times called his performance "revelatory" and ended with the plea, "More Shakespeare, Mr. Schreiber." A year later, Schreiber played the title role in Hamlet to similar raves. He went on to play Laertes in the 2000 film adaptation of Hamlet, and both the title role of Henry V and the title role in Macbeth for Shakespeare in the Park.

The Michael Tuch Foundation, Martha Tuck Rozett - George Mayer Matador Award for Extraordinary Service to Classical Theater

The Michael Tuch Foundation was founded in 1946 by a man described in his New York Times obituary as "a penniless emigrant" from Latvia who became a successful coal merchant and philanthropist within a couple of decades after his arrival in Brooklyn. The Foundation operated out of the law offices of Michael Tuch's nephew, Eugene Tuck (yes, the names are spelled differently) for over fifty years. In 2000, Martha Tuck Rozett became the president. The Foundation makes grants to a wide range of social service and cultural organizations in New York City, with a special focus on theatre.
