The Irish Repertory Theatre continues the eighth season of its Reading Series with Daniel McCabe's play THE FLOOD, which will take place on Friday, March 28 at 3pm on the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage of the Irish Repertory Theatre (132 W. 22nd Street). The reading is free and open to the public. An RSVP to the Irish Repertory Theatre Box Office at (212) 727-2737 is suggested.

In THE FLOOD, a raging storm gathers above New York and four friends come together to weather the tempest as their own private storm stirs within. THE FLOOD is a play about forgiveness, perseverance and the urban paradox of solitude in a crowd of millions.

THE FLOOD will be read by Jessica Dick (New Dramatists, EST), John Duddy (For Love, Father Who), Keira Keeley (The Tribute Artist, Angels in America) and Michael Salinas (Three Sisters, Festen).

Daniel McCabe (Playwright) was born and raised in New York City. In January of 2011 he founded the online art and literature magazine Glasschord, which to date has featured work from hundreds of artists across the globe. In November 2013 he wrote, directed and performed in the short film Shadow Puppet, which is currently being edited by Planet Caravan Studios in London. Daniel also works as a lighting technician in the New York film industry. Recent projects include David Mamet's HBO film Phil Spector, Alfonso Cuaron's television pilot "Believe," and various digital shorts for "Saturday Night Live." He recently completed work on a project for cinematographer Robert Elswitt, who won an Oscar in 2008 for There Will Be Blood. THE FLOOD is Daniel's first stage play.

The Irish Repertory Theatre "encourages the development of works focusing on the Irish and Irish American experience, as well as a range of other cultures." According to Kara Manning, Irish Rep's Literary Manager, "This Reading Series aims to give playwrights, both emerging and more established, the invaluable opportunity to develop their new work in a supportive, safe environment and will also introduce some Irish playwrights, especially those who might not yet have the New York recognition they merit, to an American audience."

The 2013-14 Irish Rep Reading Series is underwritten in part by Alexis Doyle, Patricia Smith, and the members of the Irish Rep's Patron's Circle.

The Irish Repertory Theatre, co-founded in 1988 by Artistic Director Charlotte Moore and Producing Director Ciarán O'Reilly, provides a context for understanding the contemporary Irish-American experience through evocative works of theater, music, and dance. This mission is accomplished by staging the works of Irish and Irish-American classic and contemporary playwrights, encouraging the development of new works focused on the Irish and Irish-American experience, and producing the works of other cultures interpreted through the lens of an Irish sensibility. The Irish Rep has been recognized with the Jujamcyn Theatres Award, a special Drama Desk Award for "Excellence in Presenting Distinguished Irish Drama," the Lucille Lortel Award for "Outstanding Body of Work," and a 2013 Outer Critics Circle Special Achievement Award for "twenty-five years of producing outstanding theatre."

The Irish Rep Reading Series readings are at 3 PM unless otherwise noted and are located at The Irish Repertory Theatre (132 West 22nd Street).
