Irish Rep Hosts pre-St. Patrick's Day Celebration March 4

By:

The Associate Board of the Irish Repertory Theatre will host a pre-St. Patrick's Day celebration from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4 at the theatre located at 132 West 22nd Street (between 6th & 7th Ave). Admission is $30 at the door and includes open bar, food, and live music by an Irish jazz ensemble. Proceeds from ticket sales will support the theatre.

The Associate Board of the Irish Repertory Theatre is a dynamic group of Irish and Irish American professionals who are committed to expanding the role of The Irish Repertory Theatre in the young professional class of New York City.

The Irish Repertory Theatre is New York's only off-Broadway theatre devoted to performing the classics of Irish and Irish-American drama. Founded by Ciarán O'Reilly and Charlotte Moore, the theatre opened its doors in September 1988 with Sean O'Casey's The Plough and the Stars.

Now in previews at the Theatre is Joseph Stein and Robert Russell's unabashedly romantic, Take Me Along, (based on Eugene O'Neill's Ah, Wildnerness) with lush, moving American music and lyrics, written by Tony Award nominated Robert Merrill. The production will open on Thursday, February 28, 2008. Charlotte Moore directs. Music Direction is by Mark Hartman.

The IRT's mission is to bring works by Irish and Irish American masters and contemporary playwrights to American audiences; to provide a context for understanding the contemporary Irish American experience; and to encourage the development of new works focusing on the Irish and Irish American experience, as well as a range of other cultures.

For more information on the theatre, visit the Web site at www.irishrep.org.
