On the dark nights of Force Majeure, InViolet Repertory Theater will present The Dark Night Play Series, a series of five play readings, over a three-night period, by up & coming playwrights. The readings will be at the Dorothy Strelsin Theatre at the Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex, 312 West 36th Street, 1st Floor & is FREE & open to the public

See Jane Talk, by Megan Hart & directed by Michael Benjamin, features Sara Van Beckum & Melanie Maras.

See Jane Talk, a dramedy, pours over the inner thoughts of a single New Yorker & her therapist. In this shockingly hilarious account of one woman’s psychological growth, both doctor patient discover new things about themselves, the world & the need for new beginnings.

Consumption, written by Melanie Maras & directed by Stephen Adly Guirgis (of LAByrinth Theater Company), features Megan Hart, Michael Benjamin, Marissa Rodriguez & Simon Romang

Consumption juxtaposes two single women friends & their encounters with love & each other. Two very different women, Amy & Christina, challenge the audience with their stories of love, sex & the attempt to find true love.

Maslow's Hiccups, by Richard Etchison  & directed by Megan Hart, features Annie Carlson, Angela Razzano, Darren Lougee, Rodrigo Lopresti, Timothy Mullins*

Maslow’s Hiccup turns human development & Maslow’s hierarchy of needs on its ear by tracing two couples’ journey through from the Stone Age to modern times. With each comedic scene, we see the “progress” of mankind, as we do battle with saber-toothed tigers, boredom & plastic surgery.

Hilltown, by Darren Lougee is directed by Troy Lococo & features Simon Romang, Rodrigo Lopresti, Michelle David & Timothy Mullins*

Hilltown chronicles a critical moment in the relationship between lovers Sam & Adam. At a time when Sam is questioning their relationship, his worth as a person & an artist & the fundamental nature of love, both Sam & Adam encounter women – Sam’s from his past & Adam’s from folklore – that transform each of them. Should they stay together, or are they just too fundamentally different?

40 Weeks, by Michael Henry Harris is directed by Darren Lougee & features Timothy Mullins*, Melanie Maras, Rodrigo Lopresti & Megan Hart

40 Weeks traces in humorous and tragic detail the marriage of Mark & Angie as they progress through the forty weeks of Angie’s pregnancy. The play traces on themes of love, second chances & wasted lives as we see both the nature of a marriage in flux & the effect that old friends & past true loves can have on the present day.
