Duncan and Ziemba To Announce Outer Critics Circle

Outer Critics Circle, the organization of writers covering New York theatre for out-of-town newspapers, national publications and other media beyond Broadway, is proud to report that Broadway stars Sandy Duncan and Karen Ziemba will publicly announce the nominees for the 2007-08 season on Monday, April 21st (11AM) at the historic Algonquin Hotel (59 West 44th Street). Outer Critics Circle will post award nominations in 23 categories and are the first major Broadway/Off-Broadway award nominees of the New York theater season.  

Soon to star in the Encores production of "No, No, Nanette," Sandy Duncan was last seen on Broadway in 1999 as merry murderess Roxie Hart in Chicago.  She won an Outer Critics Circle Award and a Drama Desk Award for The Boy Friend in 1971 and was nominated for a Tony Award and Drama Desk Award for Peter Pan in 1980. Her other Broadway and touring credits include Canterbury Tales, Love Is a Time of Day, My One and Only, Anything Goes and The King and I.

Karen Ziemba currently stars as Georgia Hendricks in Curtains, for which she received the Outer Critics Circle Award and was honored with both a Drama Desk Award and Tony Award nomination last year.  In 2000, she won the Drama Desk Award and Tony Award for her role in Contact. Her other Broadway credits include: A Chorus Line, 42nd Street, Teddy & Alice, Crazy For You, Chicago, Steel Pier and Never Gonna Dance for which she also won an Outer Critics Circle Award.

Celebrating its 58th season of bestowing awards of excellence in the field of theater, the Outer Critics Circle is an association with members affiliated with more than ninety newspapers, magazines, radio and television stations, and theatre publications in America and abroad.

The winners of the following categories will be announced on Monday, May 12th and the annual awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 22nd (4PM) at the legendary Sardi's Restaurant.
