Davenport Theatrical Announces 3rd Annual 10-Minute Play Contest; Submission Deadline 7/6

Broadway Producer Ken Davenport (author of the popular blog, The Producer's Perspective) announces The 3rd Annual 10 Minute Play Contest! 10 original plays will be selected from submissions to be featured in a presentation evening and vie for the title of 'Best Play' as chosen by a panel of industry professionals. Finalists will receive a cash prize of $50 and the grand prize winner will receive $500.

Entry rules are as follows:

· Submissions are only accepted digitally (link for submissions is below)

· Writers may submit multiple plays, but each play submitted must be accompanied by the submission of an entry fee

· $10 entry fee

· Title page must include the playwright's name, address, phone number and e-mail address

· The play, exclusive of title and cast pages, should be around 10 pages in length

· There may be no more than 5 characters

· Finalists are responsible for all aspects and costs of their presentation

· Only original plays or musicals, never before produced, are eligible

The 3rd Annual 10 Minute Play Contest presentations will take place on Thursday July 31st. More details to follow.

Ken Davenport is a Broadway producer whose credits include It's Only a Play, Mothers and Sons, The Bridges of Madison County, Kinky Boots (Tony Award), Macbeth, Godspell,Chinglish, Oleanna starring Bill Pullman and Julia Stiles, Speed-the-Plow, Will Ferrell's You're Welcome America, Blithe Spirit starring Angela Lansbury, and 13, as well as Altar Boyz, My First Time, The Awesome 80s Prom, and Miss Abigail's Guide to Dating, Mating, & Marriage Off-Broadway. He also produced the award winning These Magnificent Miles: On the Long Road with Red Wanting Blue, a documentary on one of the top unsigned rock bands in the country. Ken was featured on a national commercial for Apple's iPhone, named one of Crain's "40 Under Forty" and is one of the co-organizers of TEDxBroadway. Combined, Ken's productions have grossed more than $100 million worldwide and are being produced internationally in over 25 countries including Germany, Mexico, France and Korea. He created and developed the Broadway board game Be A Broadway Star, as seen on "The Today Show," and a smartphone app called AT THE BOOTH, which has been featured on Entertainment Weekly's "Must List" and called "Ingenious! The best thing to happen to New York theater since, well, the introduction of the TKTS booth!" He also runs a number of theatrical websites including DidHeLikeIt.com and YourBroadwayGenius.com.
