Dalliance Theater presents the world-premiere production of Refractions by new playwright Eliot Stockton, presented as part of the New York International Fringe Festival. We have four performances left and are hoping that your schedule is not completely full yet...or possibly you have a last minute opening and are able to join us! This piece has been in development by the Dalliance artistic core for over a year and a half, and we are so proud how well the piece has progressed in that time. Mr. Stockton's writing is visceral, smart and aggressive in a way that feels simultaneously stylized and natural, especially as performed by this talented young cast.

Refractions digs into the fight of a young writer to finish his latest piece under the watchful eye of his Producer. Meanwhile, four entwined lovers struggle to free themselves from each other, but can't stop themselves from sliding backwards to that first hot spark that brought them together. As the lines between lucid fiction and brutal reality fall apart, the relentless language of sex and power slowly gives way to a solitary, painful truth...don't flinch.

The ensemble cast features James Allerdyce (MARS Population 1), W. Tre Davis (Zooman and The Sign at Signature Theater), Mallory Hawks (Dalliance's A Dream Play), Jennifer J. Hopkins (Dalliance's Love No Evil), Jose Joaquin Perez (A Bus Stop on 52nd Street at INTAR) and Alisha Soper (Dalliance's A Dream Play).

Artistic Director Andy Ottoson (Dalliance's A Dream Play) stages Mr. Stockton's first fully-produced work. The creative team includes dramaturge Branden Huldeen, scenic designer Joseph C. Heitman, costume designer Jennifer Fisher, and sound designer Mike Brady. Aaron Heflich Shapiro will be the Production Stage Manager. Mr. Davis, Ms. Hawks and Mr. Shapiro appear courtesy of Actors' Equity Association.

Dalliance Theater was founded in 2006 as a theatrical playground for artists, providing an artistic base to breathe new life into original, classical and obscure works. Most recently, Dalliance staged the bar-hopping phenomenon Because of the Economy..., as well as a critically acclaimed production of Strindberg's seldom-staged masterpiece A Dream Play. Refractions performs August 26 at 10:15pm, August 27 at 3:45pm, August 28 at 8pm, and August 29 at 2:45pm. The show is 90 minutes long with no intermission and is suitable for everyone 15 years of age and older. Refractions is an Actors' Equity Approved Showcase. All performances will be at The Players Theatre (115 MacDougal Street, just south of West 3rd Street).
