Cause Celebre Honors Non Profits During THE PRETTY TRAP & THE SHOEMAKER

Cause Celebrè (Susan Charlotte, Founding Artistic Director) in association with Mary J. Davis is proud to celebrate a collection of worthy non-profits throughout the run of The Shoemaker and The Pretty Trap this summer, beginning July 14 through July 24 at Theatre Row's Acorn Theatre. Cause Célèbre, premiered on Sunday, December 9, 2007 at The Players Club and was created by Food For Thought's Founding Artistic Director, Susan Charlotte. Cause Célèbre is devoted to fostering an enhanced understanding of psychological, physical and social issues. Play(s) related to a particular cause will be presented by our finest actors. Proceeds will go to a foundation connected to the cause.

The Shoemaker is written by Susan Charlotte, directed by Antony Marsellis and will star Danny Aiello, Alma Cuervo and Lucy DeVito. Set in New York's Hell's Kitchen, The Shoemaker is a compelling drama that focuses on a shoemaker, an Italian Jew, on a devastating day that has become a turning point in American history. As each hour passes he confronts yet another part of his past, present and an uncertain future.

Tennessee Williams' one-act version of The Glass Menagerie entitled The Pretty Trap will star Ms. Katharine Houghton and Mr. Robert Eli and will be directed by Antony Marsellis. Houghton portrays Amanda - a role famously played by her aunt Katharine Hepburn - a mother awaiting the arrival of her daughter's gentleman caller. This production of The Pretty Trap, directed by Antony Marsellis, marks the New York Premiere of this one-act version of the "Glass Menagerie." Cause Celebrè presented the very first public reading of this long buriEd Williams' piece starring Kathleen Turner.

Henry & Me
"Henry & Me" is an animated feature inspired by the literary works of Ray Negron. The film follows an 11 year-old boy ("Jack") who is stricken with cancer. While going through a bone marrow transplant, Jack gets met by Henry who takes him on a magical journey to meet famous Yankees, past and present. Babe Ruth, Thurman Munson, Lefty Gomez, Mickey Mantle and others teach Jack life lessons on how to compete and not give up. The film stars Richard Gere, Chazz Palminteri, Danny Aiello, Paul Simon, and Cyndi Lauper, and features the voices of Hank Steinbrenner, Yogi Berra, Reggie Jackson, Mariano Rivera, Alex Rodriguez, CC Sabathia, Curtis Granderson, and Mark Teixiera, among many others.
