CHILDREN AT PLAY Plays The Living Theatre 10/29-11/21

CollaborationTown will present the World Premiere of Jordan Seavey's CHILDREN AT PLAY. Directed by Scott Ebersold (Outstanding Director at FringeNYC 2005 for the silent concerto), the play features a cast of 8 including downtown favorites Susan Louise O' Connor (2009 Theatre World Award for Broadway's Blithe Spirit opposite Angela Lansbury) and Boo Killebrew (Best Actor at FringeNYC 2003 for This is a Newspaper, 2007 NYIT Award for Best Featured Actress in 6969). Previews begin October 29 at The Living Theatre with opening night slated for Thursday, November 5.

CHILDREN AT PLAY is a tragic farce following five friends as they [hopefully] survive the average high school experience: algebra, fluctuating sexuality, eating disorders, groping teachers, guns, school bombings, nuclear fallout, and, most dangerous of all, love.

The production stars Rachel Craw, Geoffrey Decas, John Halbach, Drew Hirschfield, Boo Killebrew, Susan Louise O'Connor, Jay Potter, and Jennifer Dorr White with set design by David Newell, lighting design by Scott Bolman, sound design by Daniel Kluger and Brandon Wolcott, and dramaturgy by Jill Rafson.

Jordan Seavey is a member of The Public Theater's 2009 Emerging Writer's Group. He recently developed his newest play, The Truth Will Out (an O'Neill Center Playwrights Conference 2009 Semi-Finalist), at The Old Vic Theatre in London. His play 6969 (at 59E59 Theaters) garnered six 2007 NYIT Award nominations, winning three. For CollaborationTown, he wrote or co-wrote Townville, The Astronomer's Triangle (4 New York Innovative Theatre Award nominations), The Trading Floor, and Dante's Inferno. His other plays include Ann Coulter..., Are You Writing From the Heart?, This is a Newspaper (FringeNYC Excellence Award, 2003), American Child, and The Long Distance. Jordan was a 2003 Edward F. Albee Foundation fellow in playwriting and a three-time fellow at Robert Wilson's Watermill Center.

Scott Ebersold's directing credits include Nerve by Adam Szymkowicz; the silent concerto (Outstanding Director Award, FringeNYC 2005); Mike Albo, Mike Albo; the october crisis (to laura), and expat/inferno (Best Play Award, FringeNYC 2003) all written by Alejandro Morales. He has staged or developed plays by Anton Dudley, Kenny Finkle, Crystal Skillman, Mac Wellman and Stephen Belber among others. His work has been seen at Lincoln Center Director's Lab, HERE, Hypothetical, INTAR and New Dramatists. Co-Artistic Director of Packawallop Productions, he is a Lincoln Center Director's Lab alum; Directing-Mentor at Tisch School of the Arts PHTS; and former member of Tectonic Theater Project's Literary Department.

CollaborationTown, founded in 2003, was named one of nytheatre.com's People of the Year 2006. Their ensemble-based work is developed by a unique, four-tier play development process called CTown's Play Nursery. All artistic and operating decisions are made by the Artistic Core: Geoffrey Decas, Jordan Seavey and TJ Witham. Past productions include Let's Go, Townville (La MaMa), 6969 (59E59; winner of three Innovative Theatre Awards), The Deepest Play Ever... CHILDREN AT PLAY runs October 29 - November 21, Thursday - Saturday at 8pm. Note: no show Saturday, October 31 and an added show Wednesday, November 18 at 8pm.
