BWW Exclusive: MIKE BIRBIGLIA: THANK GOD FOR JOKES Extends Run Through 5/29

On the heels of a heavenly opening week and rave reviews, MIKE BIRBIGLIA: THANK GOD FOR JOKES will extend through May 29, 2016 at the Lynn Redgrave Theater (45 Bleecker Street). The latest one-man show written and performed by Mike Birbiglia and directed by Seth Barrish will run for an additional 3 months with 7 performances per week (Weds-Sun).

The show is receiving high praise across the board; MIKE BIRBIGLIA: THANK GOD FOR JOKES is a "Critics Pick" in The New York Times and Time Out New York among others. Neil Genzlinger of The New York Times says, "I'll be blunt: (the) new Mike Birbiglia show is the best night I've spent in a theater in a very long time." Variety declares that "the show places (Birbiglia) among the top tier of smart-funny comedians whose humor comes from a sly, subversive and introspective place" while The New York Post calls it "diabolically well-constructed" and Theater Pizzaz proclaims, "There has never been a better time to see Mike Birbiglia live than now."

Birbiglia is in the midst of a banner year with breakout roles in Orange Is The New Black and Trainwreck, and will be premiering his second feature film (which he wrote, directed and stars in) Don't Think Twice at the SxSW music and film Festival next month. MIKE BIRBIGLIA: THANK GOD FOR JOKES marks Mike Birbiglia's return to the New York stage after his acclaimed off-Broadway engagements of My Girlfriend's Boyfriend (Lucille Lortel Award for Best Solo Show, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle nominations for Best Solo Show) and the Nathan Lane-presented Sleepwalk With Me (Nightlife Award for Outstanding Comedian In A Major Performance, Drama Desk and Outer Critic Circle Award nominations). The latter stage show led to his New York Times best-selling book and Sundance-award winning feature film of the same name.

MIKE BIRBIGLIA: THANK GOD FOR JOKES is directed by Seth Barrish (My Girlfriend's Boyfriend, Sleepwalk With Me, The Tricky Part), with set design by Beowulf Boritt (Sleepwalk With Me, On The Town, Act One for which he won the Tony® Award). It is produced by Mike Berkowitz, Joseph Birbiglia, Ron Delsener, and Mike Lavoie.
