BROTHER, CAN YOU SPARE A DIME: Songs and Stories of The Great Depression Begins 10/9 At The Triad Theatre

Thoroughbred Records and Max Weintraub will present a new musical revue "Brother, Can You Spare A Dime?" Songs and Stories from The Great Depression beginning October 9, for an open-ended run at the Triad Theatre, 158 West 72nd St. Bill Daugherty directs. www.thoroughbred-records.com.

"Brother, Can You Spare A Dime?" Songs and Stories from The Great Depression mirrors the current U.S. social and economic situation through music and actual first-hand accounts of insurmountable hardships and financial ruin - all with the ultimate ideal of hope for a better day.

Conceived and directed by Bill Daugherty, the new musical revue paints the emotions of a country in turmoil and how the music of Hollywood and Tin Pan Alley reflected The Commonality of Americans who held onto the optimism.

The production features Bill Daugherty, Alexander Elisa, Christina Morrell, Jennafer Newberry, Deborah Tranelli and Morgan West. Doyle Newmyer serves as musical director with John Loehrke on bass and Spiff Wiegand on guitar.

Bill Daugherty is the recipient of four MAC Awards and three BackStage Bistro Awards including Outstanding Vocalist and for When The Lights Go On Again (Triad Theatre). He has appeared Light Opera of Manhattan (Cherry Lane Theatre); Candide, Damn Yankees (dir. George Abbott), Annie Get Your Gun, (Paper Mill Playhouse); He was a featured artist in the Lyrics & Lyricists series for 12 years and appears regularly in Broadway Unplugged at Town Hall. Bill was a pioneer member of Camp Broadway and is in his 11th year on faculty at New York University's CAP21 conservatory.

Musical Director is Doyle Newmyer, Lighting Designer is John Anselmo, Jr., and Sound Designer is Tonya Pierre.

Performances of "Brother, Can You Spare A Dime?" Songs and Stories from The Great Depression are on Fridays at 7PM, Saturdays & Sundays at 3PM. Tickets are $45. For tickets and reservations call (212) 352-3101.
