B-Side Productions Reveals New American Musical Award

B-Side Productions has announced the inaugural B-Side Productions' New American Musical Award for composers, lyricists, book writers and musical theatre artists. This developmental prize aims to resource early and mid-career musical theater writers with the opportunity to further develop a work in progress.

Over a four-month period, the chosen recipient will collaborate on the development of their piece with B-Side Productions' Artistic Director, Jasper Grant, and Dramaturg/New Work Director, John Michael DiResta. The award will culminate in a three-week workshop in September with the opportunity for public performance.

B-Side Productions is seeking submissions that challenge the traditional forms of musical theater, create community and dare to be unique/messy/irreverent.

B-Side Productions will accept traditional book musicals, concept pieces, and plays with music. Submissions must be received by April 15, 2015. For more information about the award, timeline and application procedure, please visit www.b-sideproductions.org.
