BlueRare Productions announced today that the probing and politically-charged mash-up comedy Abraham Lincoln's Big, Gay Dance Party, by Aaron Loeb, which ends its limited New York engagement on Sunday, September 5, is being readied for future productions at several venues across the country. Hailed by the Associated Press as "an honest and intriguing entertainment, full of wit and surprises," Abraham Lincoln's Big, Gay Dance Party began performances on July 27 at Off-Broadway's Acorn Theatre at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street, NYC), and officially opened on August 11. Additional details will be announced shortly.

"We are very pleased by the response of the New York audiences," producer Jill Matichak said, "and look forward to seeing this clever and insightful play from a talented new voice performed at theatres in the U.S. and abroad for years to come."

In Abraham Lincoln's Big, Gay Dance Party, a fourth-grade Christmas pageant in Lincoln's rural Illinois hometown sets off a firestorm of controversy when it calls into question Honest Abe's sexuality. A thought-provoking, laugh-out-loud funny, and uniquely American story unfolds, offering surprises at every turn. Each of the three acts lets the audience see the story from a different character's viewpoint - and at each performance the audience decides in which order the acts are performed, creating a Rubik's Cube-like theatrical event. A truly democratic theatergoing experience!

What could be more American than that?

Abraham Lincoln's Big, Gay Dance Party features actors Lisa Birnbaum, Arnie Burton, Robert Hogan, Ted Koch, Pippa Pearthree, Stephanie Pope Caffey and Ben Roberts. Directed by Chris Smith with choreography by Vince Pesce, the creative team also includes Bill English (scenic design), Jeff Croiter and Grant Yeager (lighting design), Rebecca Lustig (costume design), Kim Fuhr (sound design), and Rick Burkhardt and Rick Hip-Flores (original composition).

Tickets for Abraham Lincoln's Big, Gay Dance Party are priced at $51.25 and $66.25 for premium seats ($20 student rush) and are on sale at www.telecharge.com or by calling (212) 239-6200. The final five performances are Friday at 8:00 p.m., Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., and Sunday at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
