Video: A Look Inside Virginia Stage Company's OUR TOWN

In a new production that physically adapts the Wells Theatre in groundbreaking ways, this seminal American classic has never been so immediate and so universal. This Pulitzer Prize winner's enduring power lies in asking audiences to consider life's biggest questions in ways that are freshly challenging today, even as it creates an ordinary New England village onstage, circa 1900. With simple theatricality, honest emotion, and family friendly laughs, audiences find themselves swept up on a roller coaster for the soul, finally joining Emily in crying out: 'Oh, earth, you are too wonderful for anyone to realize you!'
#OurTown757 is a community engagement initiative by Virginia Stage Company collecting stories in memory of the vibrant lives of the people who helped shape Hampton Roads and are no longer with us. Participants recalled stories of their loved ones that are available online here: vastage.org/ourtown757.
Our Town begins with three discounted preview performances, October 17-19, and officially opens on October 20. The production will feature a collection of stories from community members in the Wells Theatre lobby as part of the #OurTown757 initiative. Our Town concludes on Sunday, November 4. Tickets range $20 - $55, with special discounts available for military, students, and groups.
Virginia Stage Company is southeastern Virginia's leading theatre destination, serving an audience of over 70,000 annually both at the Wells Theatre and throughout the community. Virginia Stage Company's mission is to "enrich, educate, and entertain the region by creating and producing theatrical art of the highest quality."
