Theatre Arlington to Present STELLALUNA

Baby bat Stellaluna flies into Theatre Arlington's 45th Anniversary Season and brings with her a universal message for all ages. This 1993 children's book by Janell Cannon, adapted for the stage by Saskia Janse with music by Guus Ponsioen, is a heartwarming adventure about great friendships, loving families and accepting differences in each other. Stellaluna's life was flitting along, right on schedule, until an owl attacks her mother and knocks the dazed little batlet right out of her mother's protective and loving arms.

She lands in a nest of three baby sparrows and their mother, who agrees to take care of her, as long as she acts like a bird. Soon Stellaluna has learned to behave like a good bird should- she quits hanging by her feet and starts eating bugs. But when she finally has an opportunity to show her bird siblings what life as a bat is like, they are all bewildered. Anyone who has ever been asked to be someone they're not will understand the conflicts-and possibilities-Stellaluna faces. This loving tale is creatively presented using humor, music and puppets!

Theatre Arlington's all-youth production of Stellaluna is directed by Caroline Turner Cole and showcases the talents of a cast and crew, all aged 18 and under. Joining Ms. Cole at the helm is Music Director, George Sepulveda III and Assistant Music Director and Accompanist, Ashton Morales.
