Award-winning Synetic Theater is getting a sense of humor thanks to the partnership formed by the Crystal City Business Improvement District (BID) and Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse.

Bright and vibrant, Crystal City now features an abundance of fine restaurants, cafes, specialty stores, outdoor movie nights, bike trails, and the award-winning theater. With its quick access to the Metro area and proximity to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, the area is attracting many well-known businesses, non-profits, artists, tourists, and residents - all who are excited to call Crystal City home. The two believe now is the time to bring quality entertainment into the growing city. The goal of the partnership is to launch a premium comedy space in Crystal City to bring comedy into the suburbs and focus on it as an Art form.

"We are thrilled to be working with Crystal City BID to bring high quality Comedy Arts to Crystal City," says Greg Godbout, Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse owner. "My business partner was helping out the Washington Wine Academy with a wine event in Crystal City. During that event he got a tour of the Synetic Theater space and was impressed. Once we talked to some other businesses in the area and spoke with Crystal City BID - it seemed like a no brainer. The enthusiasm and genuine help provided by Crystal City BID is the exact catalyst entrepreneurs like us need to set up shop in a new community."

It is Godbout's goal to utilize the Synetic Theater for 6 to 12 weekends out of the year. He is planning to produce shows that match the quality of the higher end performance theater. The first of these shows will take place on Friday, July 15th and 16th with the famous Chicago Improv group Second City followed by comic Richard Lewis on August 19th and 20th. The tickets are on sale now at a price of $40. Tickets can be purchased through www.arlingtoncomedy.com

"Crystal City is the ideal place for the Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse's emerging comedy program," said Angela Fox, President and CEO of the Crystal City BID. "Our central location, transportation assets, and many wonderful restaurants make it easy to get to and enjoy an entertaining, hassle-free evening. We are especially delighted that Synetic Theater is sharing their space to bring even more fun to Crystal City."
