HOUSE OF EERIE FIGURES (READING) - Pearl Studios

Seeking musical theatre talent for an upcoming in-person reading of a new musical titled “House of Eerie Figures,” composed and conceived by Danny Decker.

The reading will be on Monday, October 17th at 7pm EST at Pearl Studios on 8th Avenue in Manhattan. The rehearsal process will include Zoom / in-person meetings (one on ones if needed), provided sheet music, aural teaching of your vocal parts (broken down voice part), and recorded demos of how each song should sound. There will be only 4-5 in-person rehearsals / quick run-throughs aside from the reading that will take place in at a Studio TBD in Manhattan.

If you have conflicts for August, September, October, please provide a list of dates.

These roles are unpaid. This is a one-day non-union reading to take place in front of an audience of potential investors and producers of anticipated subsequent productions.

Please submit if you are comfortable with the following:

  • You will be required to sign an NDA (Non-Disclsure Agreement) before we send you materials.
  • This reading is IN-PERSON, as we ask that your location is close to, or in Manhattan.

THE LIVING

WILLARD WHEELER (age: 22 - 40, male or non-binary identifying, any ethnicity)

Willard is a college drop-out pursuing dreams of filmmaking. Willard is the type who hides a lot of true emotions, but finds them in places unexpected. With a huge heart, Willard will do what it takes to make his living and protect loved ones.

Vocal Range: Ab2 - C4

NATHAN NEMSTOV (age: 22 - 40, male or non-binary identifying, CAUCASIAN or EAST ASIAN ethnicity)

Also a college dropout and filmmaker, Nathan is typically the more grouchy of his and Willard’s friendship. A bit of a loafer, Nathan embraces his tough side, and masks his teddy bear-like heart with frustration and annoyance.

Vocal Range: Ab2 - A3

ROSALIE FIG (age: 20 - 40, female-identifying, any ethnicity)

Rosalie is the soon-to-be wife of rich plastic surgeon, Mason Moonshine, both of whom are investing in the infamous house. She’s an absolute skeptic but questions whether or not there could in fact be spirits in her new home. She has a former relationship with Willard, therefore a bit of a bias against him and his actions.

Vocal Range: C3 - F4

MASON MOONSHINE (age: 40 - 60, male-identifying, any ethnicity)

Mason is a bit of a shut-in, but lives in his work, while secretly mourning his late wife. He’s what you’d call “shady, but has a lot of love to give - he just doesn’t know where to put it. His strange, disturbed presence is what might scare others but deep down, he’s alone and torn, despite having his new fiancee and daughter in his life.

Vocal Range: D2 - A3

BASIL LIEBOWITZ (age: 18 - 30, female or non-binary-identifying, any ethnicity)

Basil is the more introverted, disturbed, but sweet child of Mason Moonshine, with an appetite for exploration. Research conducted by Basil assists Willard and Nathan in their exploration.

Vocal Range: Db3 - E4

THE SPIRITS:

RIVER MELODY (SUSAN COLON) (age: 20 - 35, female-identifying or non-binary identifying, any ethnicity)

River Melody is a kind-hearted woman living in the late 1960s, who is murdered by her husband, D Whitaker.

Vocal Range: A3 - F5

D WHITAKER COLON (age: 20 - 40, male-identifying, any ethnicity)

D Whitaker is a Vietnam war veteran, now lurking around the house with a taste for murder, as he possesses others who live in the house.

Vocal Range: Ab2 - A4

WALDRON LIKES (age: 20 - 40, male-identifying or non-binary idenifying, any ethnicity)

A stockbroker who turned the house into his own firm.

Vocal Range: A3 - A4

TED TERYL (age: 20 - 40, male-identifying, any ethnicity)

A family man, whose wife left him after a divorce, taking the kids as well, leaving him with the family dog.

Vocal Range: A3 - A4

IMELDA VON RUCHSTEIN CANTOR (age: 22 - 60, female-identifying or non-binary-identifying, any ethnicity)

A former soprano opera singer, who was most recent to die before the house was re-sold. She also provides signs that reconnect her lost relations to Willard, our protagonist.

Vocal Range: A4 - G5

ALFRED CANTOR (age: 22 - 60, male-identifying or non-binary-identifying, any ethnicity)

Alfred was a cold-hearted blue collar worker, but loved his wife and supported her dreams.

Vocal Range: Ab2 - A4
