on the King Center Stage!

Melbourne, FL – Calling all incoming high school freshman through college juniors as of school year fall 2013, who enjoy musical theatre. The King Center for the Performing Arts of Brevard Community College and The Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse are proud to present the second annual Summer Musical Theatre Project June 17th through July 21st. This is your chance to bring your appetite and desire to participate in a program that will develop your musical theatre arts and new skills learned from this collaborative project.

Through special arrangements with Music Theatre International and under the direction of Dr. Anastacia Hawkins-Smith, this five week project will focus on skills such as auditioning, acting and stage experience, casting, dance, narration, orchestra and behind the scene support roles. The project also includes chat backs with industry guests and educational studies on musical theatre.

Classes and rehearsals will be held daily Mon-Fri., 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm from June 17th – July 19th. The project culminates with three performances of Hairspray, The Musical on the King Center stage July 19, 20 & 21. No classes or rehearsals are scheduled on Thursday, July 4th.

Auditions will be held Monday June 17 beginning at 12:30 pm at the King Center for the Performing Arts. Anyone arriving after this time is not guaranteed an audition. If selected into the project, it is the responsibility of the participant to be at all rehearsals, classes and performances.

Project tuition is $325. Tuition discount for multiple students within the same household may be available. Scholarships may be available based on financial need. To apply for the project an application fee (required for audition): $25 with accompanying application must be received by Friday May 17; $35 after this date. The application fee is non-refundable and will be applied to tuition for selected applicants. Full project fee is due no later than Friday June 28. Applications are processed on a first come basis.
