THE ROYALE - Flying V Non Equity Auditions

Flying V is seeking actors for our fall show, The Royale by Marco Ramirez, running from Oct 12th thru Oct 31st!

ACTOR STIPEND: $1200

AUDITION DATES:
Wednesday, July 8th, 6:00PM - 10:00PM
Saturday, July 11th: 12:00PM - 5:00PM

CALLBACK DATE:
Wednesday, July 15th: 6:00PM - 9:00PM

AUDITION INFO:
Auditions are by appointment only. Actors will perform a 1-2 minute contemporary monologue of their choosing. Audition slots are 10 minutes long and will be in a space with the director, producer/showrunner, and production manager.

If you are unavailable for in-person auditions, you may submit a Video Audition. You must submit your self-tape monologue by Saturday, July 11th 5:00 PM ET to be considered. Monologues for video auditions must be 1-2 minutes long.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS:
Fish (he/him, 18-25, Black)
An earnest, young, up-and-coming amateur boxer who becomes Jay’s sparring partner. Actors with boxing and/or movement experience a plus.

Jay (he/him, 25-35, Black)
An ambitious and outspoken Black boxer who wants to become Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World. Actors with boxing and/or movement experience a plus.

Max (he/him, 30-40, White)
A fight promoter and referee. A salesman who sees boxers as both people and assets. While he cares for JAY, he cares equally about ticket sales and profits. Seeking a good sense of rhythm as it relates to both language and movement.

Nina (she/her, 30’s, Black)
JAY’s older sister. Fierce and grounded, levelheaded and practical – she is not naïve to the world around. Nina exhibits strength in her own way and is willing to fight for what she cares for. Seeking a good sense of rhythm as it relates to both language and movement.

Wynton (he/him, 35-50, Black)
JAY’s trainer. Grounded. A retired boxer. Physically, can see his past fitness/ability as a fighter but is no longer in fighting shape. Wise and full of wisdom – wants to see JAY win but knows the costs that will come with it.
