Placer Rep August Auditions for World Premieres
Placer Repertory Theater announces AEA and nonunion open auditions, and invitational callbacks on August 8, 9 and 13 to seek actors for the world premiere of GHOSTS OF PLACER COUNTY by T.S. Forsyth, a new two-act dark comedy slated for Fall 2022 and early evaluation of casting options for 2023’s world premiere of SHERLOCK HOLMES THE SIGN OF THE FOUR. A minimum of four actors are needed for the various roles, plus understudy/swing performers. It is recommended actors email PlacerRep@gmail.com to apply for audition slots as soon as possible, as it is anticipated all appointments will fill prior to the August 5 application deadline. All performers are paid a living wage for rehearsals plus performances and will receive a link to download a digital copy of the production for their reel. All ethnicities, disabilities, and gender identities are welcome; Asian and Indigenous actors are encouraged to apply. “We are primarily seeking adult professionals, early career to seasoned actors with prior professional performing experience, or actors with pre-professional training and/or experience who wish to transition to professional theatrical employment,” said Producing Artistic Director Teresa Stirling Forsyth.
“These two world-premiere shows are so very different, and yet both are incredibly engaging, poignant and hugely funny,” said Kevin Foster. Ghosts of Placer County is an original work that shares a 30-year relationship between a mother and daughter while it examines how our personal and community history haunts us, and how we haunt our history to define ourselves. Meanwhile, Sherlock Holmes: The Sign of the Four is a loose adaptation by T.S. Forsyth of the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle novel and two Sherlock Holmes stories that is an energetic adventure.
