THE UN-COMMON THEATRE COMPANY ANNOUNCES JANUARY AUDITIONS FOR FOOTLOOSE
Auditions To Take Place Saturday, January 11 (by appointment only)
The Un-Common Theatre Company is thrilled to announce auditions for their Spring Production of Footloose on Saturday, January 11, 2020, from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Auditions for students currently in grades 7-12 will be held at the South Foxboro Community Center, 366 South Street in Foxboro, MA and are by appointment only. All roles are available. The production will be directed by Daniel Bolton of Braintree, MA, Music/Orchestra Directed by Trey Lundquist of Brockton, MA and Choreographed by Alex Sweeney of Lakeville, MA. Footloose will be performed at The Marilyn Rodman Performing Arts Center/Orpheum Theatre in Foxboro on May 1-3, 2020.

One of the most explosive movie musicals in recent memory bursts onto the live stage with exhilarating results. When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, Ren is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. What he isn’t prepared for are the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, determined to exercise the control over the town’s youth that he cannot command in his own home. When the reverend’s rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid.
The heartfelt story that emerges is of a father longing for the son he lost and of a young man aching for the father who walked out on him. Performed to the rockin’ rhythm of its Oscar and Tony-nominated top 40 score and augmented with dynamic new songs for the stage musical, Footloose celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people, guiding them with a warm heart and an open mind.
For those who would like to uncover tips and techniques to help land that featured role, Un-Common is also offering an Audition Callback Workshop, taught by the Footloose production team, on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 from 7:00 to 8:30pm at the South Foxboro Community Center, Foxboro, MA. A breakout session for parents will also be offered to introduce and review the process of the audition, the production and The Un-Common Theatre Company in general.
