The Titirangi Theatre's next production, The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare, directed by Liz Watkinson, is set for 5 - 16 June. Booking is now open here.

When a merchant must default on a large loan from an abused Jewish moneylender for a friend with romantic ambitions, the bitterly vengeful creditor demands a gruesome payment instead. He wants his pound of flesh – literally! When the heroine wishes to marry she discovers that her father has left a will stipulating that to obtain her hand in marriage her three suitors must choose correctly from one of three caskets: gold, silver and lead. And she is to have no say in the matter at all.

Watkinson cut her teeth directing the trial scene from The Merchant of Venice when she was in the 4th Form at High School and has had a soft spot for it ever since. Her last two productions for Titirangi were School for Scandal and Terra Nova.
