The Conservatory at CAP21 Announces 2-Year Professional Training Program
By: Reynard Loki
The Conservatory at Collaborative Arts Project 21 (CAP21) proudly announces their 2-year Professional Musical Theatre Training Program beginning in New York City Fall 2009. This exciting certificate program will offer comprehensive musical theatre training in lieu of a university-based education or more extensive training beyond a bachelor degree. CAP21 offers collaboration and exchange between emerging and accomplished artists, a nurturing support system, and a unique infusion of the traditional with the innovative. Applications are currently being accepted.
The Conservatory at CAP21, now world renowned, was founded in 1993 by Frank and Eliza Ventura and annually trains over 400 students. The curriculum was developed in response to the need for in-depth actor training for musical theatre. According to the Venturas there is no such thing as musical theatre acting there is only good acting and bad acting. Students come to train at CAP21 from all over the US, Europe, Australia, Asia, Canada, Central and South America, New Zealand and the U.K. Since 1995, nearly 70 CAP21 alums have been cast in 81 different Broadway shows including A Chorus Line, Curtains, Gypsy, Hairspray, In the Heights, Jersey Boys, Legally Blonde, The Little Mermaid, Mamma Mia, Mary Poppins, South Pacific, Spamalot, Spring Awakening, Wicked, and Young Frankenstein. In addition, hundreds of alumni continue to be cast in national and international tours, regional theatre productions across the country, television and film. Alumni can be seen on such TV shows as "Heroes," "Gossip Girls" and "Army Wives."Videos
