BWW Previews: NUNSENSE THE MEGA MUSICAL at Harlequin Musical Theatre
Auckland audiences are in for a treat with the opening of Harlequin Musical Theatre's Nunsense The Mega Musical this Saturday.
With all the fun of the original Nunsense, this new version brings super-sized entertainment.
Starring the original five nuns and featuring new characters, songs and dance numbers, Nunsense, The Mega Musical has been called "A hail of fun and frolic " by The New York Times.
When the Little Sisters of Hoboken discover that their cook, Sister Julia, has accidentally poisoned 52 of the sisters, they are in dire need of funds for the burials. They decide that the best way to raise the money is to put on a variety show. They take over the school auditorium, which is currently set up for the eighth grade production, and mayhem ensues.
Directed by John Fausett, the line up of talent matches this high calibre mega musical and includes personal favourite, Sharon Hewlett, who has has both mega vocals and performance skills. And she is just one of a super-talented line up.
Returning to the stage is well known Theatre Practitioner Emma Bishop. Emma is the Zone One Rep for Musical Theatre New Zealand and President of Drama NZ. She is also well known as a Musical Director and is excited to be back performing on stage.
Also appearing is the very accomplished Maryanne Rushton, who played the lead role of Norma Desmond in the NZ Premiere of Sunset Boulevard last year. Maryanne has the challenge of playing Reverend Mother to a cloister of Nuns of which 'none' are as they seem.
Completing the line up is Helen Anne Davies, Chloe Bagayas, Lindsey Brown, Horst Feldhaeuser, Linda Strong, Rose Haumate, Emilie-Amber Barton, Jahaan Nordien and Deirdre Michels who each bring something very special to this highly entertaining show.
You won't want to miss out on this musical comedy that has something for everyone!
