The lyrics of Hal David helped define a generation of music lovers. Given his success collaborating with Burt Bacharach penning the likes of “Wishin’ and Hopin’,” “What the World Needs Now Is Love,” ” Raindrops Are Falling On My Head,” ” Close To You” and “Alfie,” a magnificent career was clear. But his song list extends far beyond this work. Add “Magic Moments,” “To All the Girls I’ve Loved Before,” “Broken Hearted Melody” and “One Less Bell to Answer” and you begin to appreciate the range he covered. Winner of the Library of Congress Gershwin Award for songwriting, many Songs of the Year, then just add the magic of Dionne Warwick, Dusty Springfield, B.J. Thomas, and The Carpenters and you have the true genius of Hal David.
Now the exuberant Wanda Rouzan, the charming Leah Chase and the lucky Philip Melancon interpret these musical gems. Sheer delight will be the call of the evening as three friends combine to deliver the Hal David songbook.
