“This Rhyme It’s Personal”, will mix elements of Paul's two two successful one-man shows from the New Orleans Fringe Festivals of 2011 and 2012, together with new material.
He'll bring two personas to the stage: "Rhyme Soda" is his stand-up/poetry routine, mixing personal stand up with comedic poetry that touches on everything from religion to sex to condiments. "Sebastian Lyme-Regis" is the star of his show ‘An Englishman in New Orleans’, a beleaguered Brit trying to make sense of New Orleans’ many idiosyncrasies.
This evening will also feature musical numbers – Oswell has set his own original lyrics to the music of Noel Coward, as well as some amusing cover versions.
Oswell said: “I’m incredibly excited to perform at Mid City Theatre. It gives me a chance to reach a new audience, as well as stepping up the production values from my Fringe performances. As much as I have loved performing in pottery studios and art galleries, to play an actual theatre is an exciting challenge.”
Oswell performed at Mid City Theatre previously as part of Kiki le Bon Bon’s Cabaret Risque (Running With Scissors), directed by Richard Read.
Oswell performs regularly at comedy venues across the city, and is part of the regular cast of Bella Blue’s Dirty Dime Peep Show, which plays monthly at All Ways Lounge.
