A night out in Paris at Mid-City Theatre: A Concert Cabaret of French Chanson
Bremner sings songs of Paris and ‘La France Profonde’ - Jacques Brel, Edith Piaf, Charles Trenet and so many more. Songs of romance, nostalgia, humour, love and revenge.
“When Bremner sings, his voice is like a big, dark, sultry room –full of emotive and expressive possibilities. Even when he sings in languages other than English, the passion and subtext come startlingly alive.” (Georgia Straight, Canada)
Bremner lived for 10 years in Paris before moving to New Orleans and in this Paris Soirée he sings his favourite Chanson from the City of Lights.
In Paris, Bremner lived in an artist’s garret in Montmartre, sang in smoky jazz bars, toured France with a big band orchestra, performed the songs of Jacques Brel in wooden barge moored at the edge of the Seine, and generally fell in love with French music and language, and their passion for living. He brings all this to Mid-City Theatre on March 20th for their month-long celebration of Cabaret.
