'Toys4Joy' Holiday Drive Set for RST's Monad Knock-Knock Comedy Night

The River Street Theatre (RST) announced today that their Monad Knock-Knock Comedy night for December would feature a Park Theatre sponsored holiday toy drive entitled, "Toys4Joy".

Audience members are asked to bring unwrapped toys to the comedy night event. The toys are distributed to needy children throughout communities in the Monadnock Region. Red's of Jaffrey Toy Drive will coordinate toy deliveries. Free popcorn will be given out for every toy donated at Monad Knock-Knock Toys4Joy night.

This extraordinary evening of holiday comedy happens on Wednesday, December 13 at 7:30 pm and will star comedian Jim Bishop. Formerly from New Hampshire, Jim is known for his sharp observations and sarcastic wit. He has appeared at clubs throughout the Northeast and is a regular at Comix at Mohegan Sun. The evening will also feature special guest and returning performer, Mike Holmes. Mike's warm and silly personality is often an unexpected and funny contrast to his burly appearance. Mike's off-center style and work ethic have helped him stand out as a newcomer. Once again, the host for the evening of comedy is Greg Boggis. Greg was recently awarded 2017 Hippo Magazine's "Honorable Mention" in the comedian category and his comedy room at Fody's Tavern in Nashua was called one of the top 5 places to see comedy in New Hampshire by the website, Best Things In NH.

Tickets for Monad Knock-Knock Toys4Joy night are $10.00. Note, some material may be of mature nature. More program and schedule information, as well as ticket purchases, can be found at riverst.org or by calling the RST Box Office (603) 532-8888. The after-hours box office can be reached by calling OvationTix at (866) 811-4111.

The River Street Theatre is located in historical downtown Jaffrey, New Hampshire at 6 River Street. The River Street Theatre is sponsored by Grove Street Fiduciary, Coca-Cola, the Board of Trustees of the Park Theatre, Janet S. Grant, Betty Locke, Owen Houghton and the James F. & Fernande Kelly Charitable Trust.

The Park Theatre first opened in Jaffrey in 1922 and was the center of community life as a movie and vaudeville house for 54 years until it closed in 1976. Purchased by The Park Theatre, Inc. in 2006, it will be rebuilt as a state-of-the-art film and performing arts center, featuring two auditoriums seating 485, presenting movies, live theatre, including children's productions, concerts, and lectures as well as offering a place for business and community gatherings for the Monadnock Region and its 100,000 residents, school districts and dynamic artistic community. The new Park Theatre is scheduled to open in 2018.

The Park Theatre currently operates the River Street Theatre (RST), a small live entertainment and cinema venue, located adjacent to the construction site as an interim theatre until the new Park Theatre opens. Opened in January of 2017, the RST holds the title of "smallest theatre in New England." Visit www.theparktheatre.org for more information.
