ARTS FOR NASHVILLE flood benefit set for Saturday, 5/22 at Keeton Theatre

Members of the Nashville theatre and dance community - including many performing companies and individual artists - will take part in ARTS for Nashville-Flood Relief Fundraiser, to be held Saturday, May 22 at 7 p.m. at the Larry Keeton Theatre in Donelson. They will join forces to raise money for those people affected by the recent catastrophic flooding in Middle Tennessee.

Proceeds from Saturday night's event will go to the Nashville Salvation Army's Local Flood Relief Direct Services. In addition, the Keeton Theatre will be collecting food items for Second Harvest Food Bank. Tickets for the show are $20 and are available online at www.ticketsnashville.com.

"Each person we call - their response has immediately been, 'Yes, how do we help?' It has been overwhelming how many performing artists have been willing to donate their time and talents to helping raise funds for the flood victims," said Jane Schnelle, executive director of the Keeton Theatre, which was formerly known as the Senior Center for the Arts. "All the performers and musicians are excited to find a way to help make a difference."
Numerous theater and dance companies and vocalists have agreed to perform at the event to help raise funds for the flood victims, according to event coordinators Christopher Mohnani and Kate Adams-Johnson..

Among participants in ARTS for Nashville are: Dance Theatre Of Tennessee, casts from several Circle Players shows, the Keeton Theatre Company, Tennessee Women's Theater Project, Chaffin's Barn, Street Theater Company, Pull-Tight Theater, Playing By Air, Lakewood Theater, N2Motion Dance Company, The Nashville Shakespeare Festival /The Tempest with Brian Russell and Denice Hicks, Mark Cabus, Ginger Newman, Abby Burke, Hannah McGinley, Swinging at the Roxy, Academy of Performing Arts, Donelson Christian Academy's cast of Singing In the Rain, Ovation! Cabaret Group, singers from Belmont University including Deonte Warren, Vanderbilt Dance Group and representatives from many of the casts of shows currently in production or recently produced throughout Nashville.

The Keeton Theatre - formerly Senior Center for the Arts - is located at 108 Donelson Pike, Nashville, in the FiftyForward Donelson Station building.
