Annabel Souter's Docu-Play FREDY Raises Questions of Ownership and Story

As reported by The Globe and Mail, following the Theatre La Licorne's production of FREDY in Montreal this past spring, the playwright, Annabel Souter, is facing the question of how much the play should be adapted for future productions, due to criticisms from the family and supporters of Fredy Villanueva, the title character and basis for the play. Villanueva was a young Honduran refugee who was shot by Montreal police in 2008, and his family feels that the play in its current state is more sympathetic to the state and to police, than it is to Villanueva.

Due to popular demand, the Segal Centre is thrilled to announce that three performances have been added to the world premiere production of Prom Queen: The Musical. Produced by Mary Young Leckie and the Segal Centre, Prom Queen: The Musical tells the inspiring, true story of Marc Hall, the Ontario teenager who took his Catholic School Board to court when they refused to let him attend prom with his boyfriend. This new, award-winning Canadian musical directed by Marcia Kash, written by Kent Staines, with lyrics by Akiva Romer-Segal and music by Colleen Dauncey will now run on the Segal Stage until November 23, 2016.

A classically trained singer, Primmer attended Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania where she studied music and theatre. Primmer currently resides in New York City, where she has been for the past 6 years. I had the pleasure of sitting down with Primmer to discuss her past projects along with her current role of Madame in CINDERELLA on Tour.
