Scapegoat Carnivale Theatre to Bring BLIND to the MAI, April 3-13
MAI (Montréal, arts interculturels) presents Scapegoat Carnivale Theatre's Blind, written by Lindsay Wilson and directed by Alison Darcy. The show runs Thursday, April 3 - Sunday, April 13, 2014.
Blind is a play about the persecution of people with albinism in Tanzania who are murdered for their body parts, which are believed to hold magical powers. In this fascinating encounter between documentary theatre and mythical storytelling, Blind follows Hannah during her stay in Tanzania where she works as an international observer of human rights violations. Featuring testimonies from children with albinism, Blind is an unflinching account of the crisis of humanitarian aid in Africa.
Blind (9 shows only) runs at the Scapegoat Carnivale at the MAI, 3680 rue Jeanne-Mance, Friday, Saturday at 8pm, Sunday at 3pm. Talkback on Saturday nights after the show. Other shows: Sunday, April 6 at 8pm, Saturday, April 12 at 3pm
Tickets: $22 regular, $15 students, $18 seniors. Preview Thursday, April 3 at 8pm, $15. Reservations: (514) 982-3386 or online: m-a-i.qc.ca/en/upcoming/scapegoat-carnivale-en (+ service charge).
