Theater Latté Da Presents BEAUTIFUL THING Thru 3/18

By:

Theater Latté Da 's emotionally charged production of Beautiful Thing premiered at The Lab Theater in February. Hailing from London's West End, Beautiful Thing, by Jonathan Harvey, is a moving drama about two teenage boys who unexpectedly fall in love. The production is directed by Jeremy B. Cohen, and runs through March 18, 2012.

Theater Latté Da will infuse the production with music from the Mamas and Papas, with local favorite chanteuse Erin Schwab singing Mama Cass. Erin Schwab appeared in Theater Latté Da's productions of The Rink and Oh S#!%, I'm Turning Into My Mother. Beautiful Thing also will feature Steven Lee Johnson and David Darrow as next-door neighbors Jamie and Ste, with additional characters being played by Jennifer Blagen, Dan Hopman, and Anna Sundberg.

Jeremy B. Cohen, the producing artistic director of The Playwrights' Center, will be making his local directing debut with this production as Theater Latté Da's first guest director. "As I begin my second year of living and working in the Twin Cities, I'm thrilled to be collaborating with this incredible team of actors and designers from the community," Cohen said.

The creative team includes music director Dennis Curley (Theater Latté Da's Steerage Song and A Christmas Carole Petersen), scenic designer Michael Hoover (Theater Latté Da's Song of Extinction, A Christmas Carole Petersen and Floyd Collins), costume designer Kathy Kohl (Theater Latté Da's The Full Monty, Parade, Susannah and King of Hearts), lighting designer Mike Wangen (Theater Latté Da's Steerage Song) and sound designer Tom Sandelands (Theater Latté Da's Susannah, A Christmas Carole Petersen and Gypsy).

"Jeremy is a smart, dynamic arts leader," said Peter Rothstein, Theater Latté Da artistic director. "It is thrilling to have him join our community and make his local directing debut with Latté Da."
