The 2011-12 season begins Sept. 23 when "Miss Nelson is Missing" by Harry Allard and James Marshall opens at Stages Theatre Company (STC), which is located in the Hopkins Center for the Arts.

Audiences will notice an innovative addition to this production when Miss Nelson's classroom transforms into a high-tech environment. Technical Director Michael Horejsi explains how the recently installed media server operates. "It allows the manipulation of multiple layers of media, images, video and digital effects. Those subsequent manipulated images can be sent to multiple output options, projectors, screens, video curtains and light walls. It allows us to create backdrops and scenes digitally where we can overlay recorded video onto the image, manipulate the image in 3-D such as seeing the image wrap around a shape, and even import live capture video into a pre-recorded scene."

STC believed the new technology and "Miss Nelson is Missing" was a perfect fit to introduce the media server as a new element to the storytelling. "We wanted to set the story of "Miss Nelson is Missing" in a modern classroom with all of the media technology available - Smartboards, student tablets, laptops, etc. We also wanted to bring the wild and wacky internal thoughts of the Kids of Room 207 to life in a bright, playful and modern way, says Director Cassandra Proball.

"Miss Nelson is Missing" begins Sept. 23 and ends Oct. 23. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.stagestheatre.org for performance dates and times, or by calling the Box Office at (952) 979-1111, Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for children (ages 5 to 17) and seniors (60+). Lap passes are available for free (ages 0 to 2) and $5 for (ages 3 to 4).
