RT+MPLS: THE LEGEND OF R.T. RYBAK to Play MNFringe 2013, 8/1-11

By:

A Minnesota Fringe play inspired by the mayor of Minneapolis comes to the Minnesota Fringe just months before the end of Mayor Rybak's tenure as mayor. The play RT+MPLS: The Legend of R.T. Rybak is a romantic comedy about the love affair between Minneapolis and her significant mayor for the last 12 years.

There's no political agenda in this play and nor it is a documentary or a biography of the mayor. It is a love story, with dramatic and romantic license. Creator Heather Meyer wrote this show because as the upcoming mayor election approaches, she realized "Who could possibly fill the shoes of RT?" and "Surely, he will go down in history as that really awesome mayor we had." The real Mayor Rybak isn't involved with the show.

The show will take place at the New Century Theatre in City Center in downtown, Minneapolis. The play is written and directed by Heather Meyer. Also involved with the show is Meggie Greviell, Michael Krefting, Wayne Krefting, Ryan Robert Nelson and Anna Weggel. Costuming the four person show, is local fashion and accessories designer Stephanie Brown of the clothing line Steevie.B, carried at Cliché and accessory line Apuckalips. Proceeds from the show will be donated to benefit the Minneapolis Step-Up Program.
RT + MPLS: The Legend of R.T. Rybak, created by Heather Meyer, will play the New Century Theatre in City Center, 615 Hennepin Ave, Downtown Mpls.
